Privacy

RECA is committed to protecting your privacy through responsible information management practices.

RECA only collects, uses and discloses any personal information you provide in compliance with the Personal Information Protection Act. RECA staff only use your personal information to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected or for a use consistent with that purpose. Except as authorized by law, or when you consent, RECA does not disclose your information to other public bodies, third parties or individuals.

When you visit RECA's website, including to access myRECA, our web server automatically collects a limited amount of information essential for the operation and security of the site. Some of this information (e.g. browser type) does not identify who you are, while other information, such as your internet domain name or IP address, may identify you. The extent of personal identification depends, in a large part, on the "naming standards" followed by your internet service provider.

When you voluntarily send us email or submit information via a form on RECA's website, RECA keeps a record of this information in order to respond to you.

RECA uses your email address to communicate with you regarding licensing, education, Industry Council elections, or regulatory updates. By accepting these Terms of Use, you consent to allowing RECA to contact you via email and to store your email address on servers in the United States or European Union (Ireland and Germany).

RECA uses your mobile number to communicate important licence renewal reminders. Mobile numbers and message contents are stored on Red Oxygen’s servers in the United States and Australia for 30 days and then deleted. Users may opt out of text/SMS reminders through their myRECA account at any time.

RECA's privacy policy is available at www.reca.ca.

Personal Information Collection

RECA and its agents collect, use, and disclose your personal information for the following purposes:

  • creating a myRECA account
  • determining your course enrollment eligibility
  • Industry Council elections
  • processing your application for licensing and for all other regulatory purposes in relation to the administration of the Real Estate Act.
